Sailor Stuff
I am learning about Christopher Columbus and sailors in my homeschool. The sailors had to know knots to be accepted onto the boats as help. Knots help them mend the boat while moving and sail across the Atlantic Ocean. The reef knot is a circle knot they would use for bundling ropes together. The clove hitch ends the rope against the wooden bar. The bowline knot is more like something you would tie into a sail. The knots were hard to learn, but they were useful in sailing.

Genghis Khan
I went to the Genghis Khan exhibit at the tech museum in San Jose today. I learned some things about him. He was a powerful conquerer. His insightful strategies were destructive to the surrounding lands. The moguls lived in ger. A ger has two poles for structure and is a leather-made round tent. I liked the weapons because they were slick and grooved with symbols on the blades. They also had scorpions and trebuchets as artillery.

match maze
I made this maze with a penny matchbox, masking tape and a small bead.
Fold the tape in half. Make lines and put in a bead where the start is. Tilt and flick the edges to make the bead move.

Whistler's Mother at the De Young
Whistler's Mother is a picture from the movie Mr. Bean and its last visit in a America was in 1933. Its home land is Paris where it was origanaly painted by James Macniell Whistler who was American born. Whistler's Mother is a picture of blends of shapes, strokes and colors. Close up, it looks like foliage but far away it looks like this:
Whistler originally was going to have a younger model pose, but she fell ill. So, he turned to his mother for a model. She is sitting in the picture, because she is old and frail. Using different types of brush strokes, Whistler created both the detail in her face, hat, lace and hands, and the essence of her clothes, room and curtain.
This is supposedly the 4th most recognizable work of art.

strawberry net plant protector
Moles can be pretty troublesome and kill plants but you can stop it %50 percent of the time.
you will need:
1strawberry net
some batting(enough to cover the bottom)
2 paper napkins
1 cup dirt
1 small pice charchoal
1-11 seeds(optimal)
First put the batting in the strawberry net next:
Put two paper napkins over the batting then:
Then put 2/3 cups of dirt on the napkin then:
About the coal put it in the center then:
Plant the seeds right by the coal then:
Put the rest of the dirt on it then plant it like normal

Eye O Playdough
How To Make An Eye
I used 4 cans of playdough and 2 tools.
First form a pice of goop into a bowl-like form like so:
(This is called a Sclerotic Coat)
Then form a red peice of dough into a ball that will fit into the bowl:
(this will be the firm jelly that is in the middle of our eye)
Then mold the yellow over the red: Then shape a circle like pad of green with a hole in it:
Then put a small piece of blue in the hole of green.
Fold the green over the yellow and red:
Now make another yellow bowl like piece.
Shape it over the green ball:
The green is the retna. Blue is the pupil. Yellow is the eye lid.
